Your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit

This was originally posted on Instagram on August 2, 2021.

Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, which you have from God? You are not your own; you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body.
-1 Corinthians 6:19

Are you caring for the temple?

((Before I get to the meat of this post, I want to say that none of this is meant to shame anyone for being imperfect. I am nowhere near perfect myself. But as a sinner I still try to help people get holy, and I think that applies here too.))

This is a bit of a palate cleanser post. So often I feel called to talk about the danger of medical (and other forms of) tyranny. But fighting for informed consent is only in service to a higher and greater good: glorifying God’s design for our bodies by caring for them well.

So let me ask:

Have you
πŸ‰ eaten whole foods today?
πŸ’¦ been staying hydrated?
β˜€οΈ been out in the sunshine?
πŸŠβ€β™€οΈ moved your body in an intentional way?
πŸƒβ€β™€οΈ gotten your heart rate up, maybe broken a sweat?
πŸ“±looked away from your phone today?
πŸ€— hugged the people around you?

And because our minds and our souls are intimately connected to the health of our bodies...

Have you:
πŸ“Ώ prayed today?
πŸ“– read holy scripture today?
πŸ“š read a good book today?
πŸ˜† laughed today?
πŸ’• said kind words today?

Have you thanked God today, for the precious body He has bestowed you with?

Medical freedom isn’t just about what we don’t want in our bodies. It’s about understanding, as I’ve said time and time again, that freedom is *the ability to do what we ought.*

And what we *ought* to do with the temple of the Holy Spirit is to take great care to love it well, in order to be a delightful resting place for Love Divine. πŸ•Š
