Protecting the vulnerable

“I believe in protecting the vulnerable.”

I do not think that means what you think it means. (🏴‍☠️ •👸🏻👰🏻 🤣)

I DO believe in protecting the vulnerable from co<iD deaths by:
•encouraging a healthy lifestyle
•making sure they get the supplements they need
•ensuring they have access to lifesaving medicine (that was withheld from hundreds of thousands of people last year)
•and yes, supporting their decision to get v🪓 inated if they decide *for themselves* that it’s the right course of action.

But I ALSO believe in protecting the vulnerable:
•cancer patients from cancer
•heart disease patients from heart attacks
•v@x injured people from additional harm
•elderly from loneliness
•children from a broken society
•teens from suicide
•marriages from divorce
•women and children from domestic violence
•depressed from suicide
•family businesses from permanent closure
•poor from abject poverty
•citizens in developing countries from the greed of the western elites
•humanity from complete tyranny

and the list goes on...

Every last group above was negatively affected, not by a virus, but by PEOPLE who enforced extended lockdowns.

Are these not also “the vulnerable?”

Jesus healed people with leprosy, paralysis, hemorrhages, blindness, deafness, fevers, and withered hands, and Saint John tells us at the end of his gospel that the whole world could not contain the books that could be filled by the works of Our Lord and Savior.

Jesus didn’t heal only one illness or disability because that’s not how He works. He is a God Who cares for ALL of His people: body, mind, and spirit. He expects us to care for each other in the same way.

So instead of the myopic view of the Secular Works of Mercy™️ that truly only wants to protect people from one virus and one virus only, I choose the age old wisdom of the Church.

•feed the hungry
•give drink to the thirsty
•clothe the naked
•shelter the homeless
•visit the sick
•visit the imprisoned
•bury the dead
