“Let My people go, that they may serve Me.”

Oftentimes I see Catholics and other Christians who question the draconian lockdowns being criticized for demanding “muh freedom.” It’s a way to categorize those who desire liberty (which is a virtue, BTW) as selfish and stupid.

So what are those same people saying about what the Lord says to Moses in Exodus?

“Then the Lord said to Moses, “Go in to Pharaoh and say to him, ‘Thus says the Lord, “Let my people go, that they may serve me.”’” -Exodus 8:1

Freedom, as we have discussed, is not the ability to just do whatever we want. Freedom is the ability to do what we *ought.*

1) Worship God freely and do His holy will.
2) Love your neighbor by performing corporal and spiritual works of mercy.

The Lord continues to desire us to do His will. He who is Unchanging has not changed because of a pandemic. He continues to desire us to serve our fellow man, I would argue not by ‘staying home and staying safe,’ but by abandoning ourselves in love and service to GOD and to our fellow man.

P.S. This is a very interesting an article by Naomi Wolf regarding the 10 steps to fascism. Wolf and I share very little in the way of political thinking (she is a classical liberal and I am conservative), except for a belief that our culture is slowly but surely becoming less and less free. The three videos at the bottom of the article are very eye-opening.
