Stop calling the police.

In the past 6-7 months many people have called the police on our homeschooling group.

Our crime?

Not wearing masks. Outside. In a sunny So Cal park.

Lock me up, I’m a monster.

PLEASE.
STOP.
ASKING.
THE.
POLICE.
TO.
ENFORCE.
MASK-WEARING.

That’s not what they’re for.
It’s demeaning to them and downright unjust towards the people you are reporting. And to be honest, it’s breeding a tattle-tale culture that is startlingly similar to the authoritarian regimes of the 20th century. 🚫🚫🚫

Instead of calling the police, perhaps give James 1:19-20 a try:

“Know this, my beloved brethren. Let every man be quick to hear, slow to speak, slow to anger, for the anger of man does not work the righteousness of God.”

In other words, strike up a respectful conversation and try to understand where they’re coming from. (Hint: I can think of 5 reasons right off the type of my head why people wouldn’t wear a mask. None of those reasons includes being a jerk,
a C🦠vid-denier,
or affiliated with a certain political party.)

And for my brothers and sisters who are on the receiving end of pro-mask vitriol, take heed to Proverbs 15:1-2:

“A soft answer turns away wrath,
but a harsh word stirs up anger.
The tongue of the wise dispenses knowledge,
but the mouths of fools pour out folly.”

In other words, your anger may be righteous but it won’t turn a single heart towards truth if your voice is dripping with sarcasm and contempt.

Holy Trinity, One God, deliver us from this division.

Our Lady, Queen of Peace, ora pro nobis.
