Memento mori.

Just some scattered Ash Wednesday musings...

“Memento, homo ... quia pulvis es, et in pulverem reverteris.”

Remember, o man... you are dust, and to dust you shall return.

Our bodies are weak and frail, with us only until death and then not again until the Second Coming of Christ. Our soul lives forever, hopefully by the grace of God, gazing upon the face of our Beloved in Heaven when we leave this place.

I will not fear death. I will prepare for it by loving and obeying God above all others, and then loving my neighbor out of love to Him.

The world is nothing if it is not for Christ. The beauty of creation, human love... it is all for naught if not ordered towards Him Who ordered creation rightly to begin with.

I will reject the ways of the world that try to separate me from my faith, from my family and friends, and from the needy. I have the Church’s works of mercy, corporal and spiritual, and I reject the false works the world demands of us.

This Lent I will walk deep into the desert, seeking the truth and goodness from God, and leaving the ways of the world-gone-mad behind.

I will reject temptations as Christ rejected them.

I am for Christ, as He was for me on the cross on Calvary. To the death, borne out of love.

Memento mori. Remember the death.
