Call to action: aborted fetal cells and Covid vaccines

This post originally appeared on Instagram on July 30, 2020.

Typically this page will centered on philosophical and theological discussion rather than action.

However, Catholics and other pro-life advocates have an unique and time-sensitive opportunity. Today is the LAST DAY to submit a comment for to ACIP (Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices) regarding Covid-19 vaccines. (Please note: the “public comment” portion, where people were able to call in, was held yesterday, however, no vote nor recommendation was made, so there is still time to have your voice heard to influence their decisions!)

Catholics, regardless of their stance on vaccines in general, have a moral obligation to vocally oppose the degradation of human life, beginning with conception. (CCC 2270) Several of the top contenders for the Covid-19 vaccine use tissue from aborted fetuses. Moderna, Johnson & Johnson, and several others. (Link in profile to definitive list, courtesy of Children of God for Life. Many thanks to them for their dedication!)

We have an opportunity that rarely comes: to influence the outcome rather than to fight for our pro-life values after the fact. Can you imagine if each of us (over 1000 now!) were able to get 1, 2, 5, or 10 other people-life advocates to make their voices heard?!

Edit: The actions below are no longer available. Please pray hard for the dignity of the unborn to be recognized.

In a 2005 document on the morality of using vaccines that were created using tissues from aborted fetuses, the Pontifical Academy for Life stated, “Equally, they should oppose by all means (in writing, through the various associations, mass media, etc.) the vaccines which do not yet have morally acceptable alternatives, creating pressure so that alternative vaccines are prepared, which are not connected with the abortion of a human foetus, and requesting rigorous legal control of the pharmaceutical industry producers.” -2005 Letter from the PAFL to Debra Vinnedge, Children of God for Life.
